I recently heard about a classmate who had a family member pass away from breast cancer. Unfortunately, it was one of the most upsetting stories I have ever heard. She had been diagnosed just a few months back and nothing seemed to help reduce the cancer; not even chemotherapy. Sadly, the cancer spread to her lungs and eventually passed away during operation. What is so sad about this is the fact we are currently learning about neoplasia and the process it takes place in our bodies. It is so amazing yet frightening that something so small can do so much harm to our bodies. Being a woman, it is frightening to hear so many stories about breast cancer and how it has affected so many people’s lives. My heart goes out to her family and any other family that has to go through this experience. More money and time needs to go into this research so we can find ways to prevent such a thing.
